United States Army on Reddit Looking to build a solid belt to hold up gear but so far the webbing I’ve tried is too flimsy. The bags there are literally made for backpacking/rucking and holding a ton of stuff. The webbing would be passed to the military, where quality would drastically reduce for cost savings. However, upon trying British-style webbing (DZ right), I was pleased with the results. I only build products with mil-spec or similar components as they absolutely have to be durable. I’ve sewn up to 3 layers of thick webbing with a 40-something yr old Bernina machine with plenty of tension and depth fiddling and a powerful motor. Pants and a shirt. From what I can tell J Murray's is slightly better, but Normandy Accessories' also is pretty close, although a bit thicker (this may work for headbands though, as those had a thicker webbing than the other parts of the rayon suspension). Fair amounts of swearing and re-sewing, but nothing like right now while that machine is in the shop. I recommend more modern webbing systems like the Jayjay’s commanders webbing or the Crossfire DZ-RIG, or the British tactical wide molle hippo belts (3 or 4 row recommended) and your own choice of molle pouches.
